Wade Hampton beats Darlington for Boys 3A Crown

The Wade Hampton Generals beat the Darlington Falcons 79-68 in Columbia on Saturday night to win the Boys Class 3A State Basketball Championship. Wade Hampton finishes the season with a 29-0 record. The Generals are the only boys team in South Carolina to finish the year with an unblemished record. It is the school's first boys state title since 1971. Brian Steele had a monster night for Wade Hampton with 30 points.

Darlington cut Wade Hampton's 24-point lead in the third quarter down to eight but could not get any closer. Devin Joint and D.J. Wright led the Falcons with 17 points apiece. Sammie Davis added 14 for Darlington.

Darlington finished the season with a 24-2 record.
