Waccamaw wins two state titles on Friday

Taylor Player had two first half goals in Waccamaw's 5-1 state title win against Christ Chruch

It was a day to remember at Waccamaw High School. The Warriors won state titles in both girls soccer and softball on Friday. It got started with the 2A girls soccer state championship in Columbia. Taylor Player scored two first half goals and the Warriors pulled away in the second half for a 5-1 win over Christ Church. Then in Lexington at White Knoll High School, the Warriors softball team bounced back from its first loss of the season on Wednesday with a 4-1 win against Crescent. Waccamaw finishes the season 34-1 and beats the squad that ousted them last year in the state championship. Ashley Czechner capped off her brilliant high school career with another stellar performance both on the mound and at the plate. Czechner drove home two with a hit to centerfield in the first inning and was once again dominant on the mound.
