St. James wins Region 7 Class 3A Baseball Championship

St. James won the 7-3A region baseball championship on Friday.

The St. James Sharks clinched another region championship with a 7-3 victory over the Socastee Braves. St. James scored five runs in the second inning, and never trailed in the title match.

Trent Revis homered, and pitcher Anders Desheilds threw a 4-hitter to lead the Sharks. In addition, Carter Brakefield went 3-for-4 at the plate for St. James.

Socastee (18-7) lead-off hitter Hunter Renfrow went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Both Socastee and St. James (19-5) locked up spots in the Class 3A State playoffs. The pairings will be announced this weekend. The Sharks and Braves will host opening round games as the top two seeds out of their region.

For St. James, this is their fourth consecutive region championship, after winning nine of ten games in league play.
