South Florence star reunites with father and shines on the gridiron

Fabian Jefferson is in the midst of an outstanding senior season for the South Florence Bruins. With five touchdowns catches at tight end and six sacks on the defensive side of the ball, Jefferson has already claimed an HTC Game Ball and has made two appearances on the A&I Top Five Plays in the Chevy End Zone. He has a 3.0 GPA and one days wants to be a congressman.

Jefferson's path to stardom at South Florence High was a hard one. Jefferson was born to teenage parents who gave him up for adoption. Timothy McKever, Jefferson's biological father, had a desire to reunite with his son fourteen years after he was born. Nina McKever, Timothy's wife, went to the internet and came across Fabian through MySpace. Living in Santee, Jefferson was reluctant to connect with the father he never knew. After initially saying no to meeting his Dad, Jefferson decided he wanted to meet his father. Jefferson moved to Florence to live with his Dad and new stepmom and has flourished on the football field and in the classroom.

Nina McKever contacted WPDE Sports and said that Fabian wanted to share his story with others to prove that you can overcome difficulties in life and be successful.
