South Carolina girls & boys sweep Carolinas Classic

Darlington's Jazz Green ends high school career with a win.

WPDE Miss Hoop Zone winner Jasmine Phillips scored 10 points and hauled down 11 rebounds to lead the South Carolina Girls All-Stars to a 64-52 win over the North Carolina Girls All-Stars on Saturday night at Socastee High. Phillips has committed to the North Carolina Lady Tar Heels.

Two other WPDE All-Zone selections had solid performances. Shatia Cole from Myrtle Beach High scored 9 points. Cole has signed with Coastal Carolina. Jazz Green from Darlington tallied four points for the South Carolina stars. Green has inked a college letter of intent with the College of Charleston. Marion's Geneika Brantley was sick and did not suit up for the South Carolina squad.

Lisa Jones from South Florence High coached the girls squad along with Susan Tate from Boiling Springs. The South Carolina girls have won six of the fourteen meetings between the states.

The South Carolina Boys All-Stars completed the sweep with an 88-83 win in the nightcap. Damien Leonard from J.L. Mann scored 35 points for South Carolina. Leonard has signed to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks. The South Carolina stars are now 6-9 against North Carolina since the tournament began.
