Socastee 2014 HS football preview

The Socastee football team is coming off two fantastic seasons, with trips to the Class 3A state playoffs. To make the post season in 2014, the Braves will have to rely on players not named Hunter Renfrow.

The quarterback is now at Clemson, replacing him will be Jordan Hodge. The senior brings his 4.8 speed to the table, and the ability to make the Braves offense tick. He'll have the luxury of a talented tight end at his disposal. Maxwell Kjosa has offers from Clemson, NC State, UNC and Wake Forest among others.

The Socastee defense will be well equipped to handle a tough conference schedule. Sam McKinney and Finn Melko will anchor a unit that produced solid numbers last season. Each will have an opportunity to play at the next level, giving second year Head Coach Doug Illing more than enough talent to handle the job.

The Braves open the season August 30th against Southeast Raleigh Magnet.
