Fri, 10 Dec 2010 05:24:15 GMT — More than 60 area high school football players were honored at the Chevy End Zone banquet on Thursday, December 10th. Awards were handed out for academic excellence as well as the winners of the A&I plays of the year. But the big announcement was the Zoneman trophy. Five players were up for the award -- Jabo Lee from Dillon, Lateek Townsend of Marlboro County, Shon Carson of Lake City and Mitch Campbell from Myrtle Beach High. Two-time winner Everett Golson of Myrtle Beach High made the presentation announcing Shon Carson as the 2010 Zoneman winner. Carson is the first player from Lake City to ever to win the Zoneman which is awarded to the top high school football player in the area. The future South Carolina Gamecock had 30 first place votes to win by a comfortable margin. Carson finished his high school career with 2,280 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns.
