The Scotland Fighting Scots beat the Indian Trail Porter Ridge Pirates 42-16 on Saturday night in Winston-Salem, to win the Class 4-A North Carolina High School State Championship.
The Scots had to rally from a 13-0 first quarter deficit. Kwashaun Quick threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more. Quick was named MVP. Tony McRae ran for two scores and Travis Wall caught two TD passes, including one that covered 82 yards, for the Scots.
Scotland defensive lineman Kris Tyndall added a 24-yard interception return for a score.
Scotland finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record. It is the Scots first state football title and the first for head coach Chip Williams, who took over the program just four years ago.
