Scotland County ready for first trip to title game

For the first time since 2005, there is not going to be a state champion in the Zone Nation in South Carolina high school football, but one team is still standing over the border. The Scotland County Scots play in their first ever state championship game on Saturday night at Wake Forest. The 14-0 Scots take on 14-0 Porter Ridge at 7pm at BB&T Field.

The Scots are averaging over 43 points a game and have been dominant against traditional powers like Richmond County and Marlboro County. The Scots beat Dean Boyd's region champion team 42-7 and was a 41-7 victor over the archrival Raiders. While the Scots have never been to the championship game, head coach Chip Williams has made it three previous times. Williams and the Scots beat his former team, New Bern, 61-28 last week in the state semifinals.
