SC boys beat NC in Carolinas Classic

Hartsville's Jaylen Shaw scored 23 points for the SC All-Stars and was named MVP.

South Carolina won the Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic with a 99-90 win over North Carolina on Saturday night at Myrtle Beach High. South Carolina All-Star Tashombe Riley from Orangeburg-Wilkinson led all scorers with 26 points. Hartsville's Jaylen Shaw was named MVP after scoring 23 points, with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Shaw won the 2013 WPDE Mister Hoop Zone award earlier this month.

On the girls side, the North Carolina All-Stars defeated the South Carolina All-Stars 76-67 in overtime. South Carolina led most of the game, but North Carolina's Briana Day hit a game-tying bucket to send the game to OT. In the extra session, South Carolina was outscored 9-0. North Carolina's Mykia Jones scored the only field goal in the overtime. J'Kyra Brown was named MVP after scoring 19 points, including 16 in the second half for North Carolina.

Naomi Moore from C.E. Murray led South Carolina with 23 points, including six 3-point field goals. India Farmer of North Myrtle Beach High scored seven points, and hauled down four rebounds.
