Eleven players on the South squad are WPDE All-Zone selections. Two of them are from Dillon. Defensive back Kevin Lynch and defensive lineman Archie Gilchrist had solid workouts. Hemingway's LaMichael Pushia, who led the area in rushing, ripped off several long runs in the morning session. Jarvez Holmes from Carolina Forest made an interception for the South.
The North team is led by two South Carolina Mr. Football finalists. Nathanael Moore, a linebacker from Chesnee, and Greer quarterback Reese Hannon who has verbally committed to play at Furman.
Dozens of college scouts attended the Monday, two-a-day practices. Most of the North-South stars have yet to commit to a college. This week provides the all-stars one last chance to impress the colleges and score an offer.Proceeds from the North-South All-Star Game go to the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Scholarship Fund to benefit the children of the state's athletic coaches. Children of coaches in all sports and at all levels of coaching have been recipients of these scholarships.
Kickoff is scheduled for noon on Saturday, December 10.
