North Myrtle Beach advances to Shootout by the Sea title game

North Myrtle Beach will defend their Shootout by the Sea Championship on Monday night.

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs are back in the Shootout by the Sea basketball tournament championship for a second straight year. The Chiefs beat Lancaster Mennonite (PA) 68-64 on Sunday night at North Myrtle Beach High in Little River. Josh Lindsey scored 20 points for the Chiefs, who will play Hillcrest for the tournament title on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.

The South Florence Lady Bruins advanced to the Shootout by the Sea basketball tournament final with a 52-48 win over North Myrtle Beach. South Florence will play Monacan (VA) on Monday night at 6 p.m.

Forsyth Country Day (NC) won the Panther Classic after a 73-67 win over the Myrtle Beach Seahawks in a semi-final game. Cory Hanes led Forsyth Country Day with 27 points. Solomon Cooper had 20 points to lead Myrtle Beach.

Earlier in the day, Lake Wales (FL) defeated Carvers Bay 50-44 at the Panther Classic. But Lake Wales had to forfeit a chance to play in the final because they are not allowed to play non-member schools. The Panther Classic will resume on Monday with a series of consolation games starting at 4 p.m. at Carolina Forest High.
