North Myrtle Beach advances to 3A Volleyball Championship

North Myrtle Beach volleyball team celebrates with fans after winning Lower State title.

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs beat the Airport Eagles in straight sets, to win the South Carolina Class AAA Lower State Volleyball Championship on Wednesday night, at North Myrtle Beach High in Little River.

North Myrtle Beach (21-2) eliminated Airport 25-16, 25-21 and 25-18.

Region 7 Player of the Year Marci Chestnut led the Chiefs with 16 kills. Ellen Johnson added 15 kills. Tara Nix had the most assists with 27. Lauren Linta had 25 digs.

Airport's finished the year with a 17-14 record.

North Myrtle Beach will defend their Class 3A Championship against Pickens High on Saturday, November 9 at 3:30 p.m. at White Knoll High.

In the class 1A Lower State Final, Branchville defeated Johnsonville in straight sets to advance to Saturday's final. The Flashes season finishes at 18-2.

In class 2A, Bishop England won its 14th straight AA Lower State final with a straight set win over Waccamaw.
