Myrtle Beach Seahawks win 2014 football opener

Brandon Sinclair ran for 158 yards and scored twice for Myrtle Beach.

The Myrtle Beach Seahawks raced to a 21-0 first quarter lead, and scored a convincing 42-14 win over the West Brunswick Trojans at the Carolinas Kickoff Classic, at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium on Thursday night.

Myrtle Beach quarterback Drayton Arnold threw a 25-yard first quarter TD pass to Kelton Greene to give the Seahawks a 7-0 advantage.

Kyle Belack blocked a punt for Myrtle Beach to set up another score. Brandon Sinclair scored on a 16-yard run to make it 14-0 Myrtle Beach.

Still in the first quarter, Marcus Chestnut blocked another punt for Myrtle Beach, Belack scooped up the loose football and scored to make it 21-0 Seahawks.

Arnold completed 13-of-15 passes for 187 yards. Three of them went for touchdowns. Waring and Belack had TD receptions.

Sinclair had 12 carries for 158 yards and two scores.

Myrtle Beach (1-0) will play next Thursday at home against the West Florence Knights.
