MB Seahawks football team out to repeat as state champs

The Myrtle Beach Seahawks lost 21 seniors off last year's Class AAA State Champion football team. The Hawks have reloaded this spring and will attempt to win the 8th state title in school history this fall.

Seahawks head coach Mickey Wilson said they will continue to run the air raid offense with Drayton Arnold at quarterback. Arnold is coming off a breakout sophomore season. He threw for 2,415 yards and 30 touchdowns, leading Myrtle Beach to a record of 11-4.

Brandon Sinclair is the area's top returning rusher. He ran for 1,919 yards and 18 TD's last fall.

Myrtle Beach has an armada of talented receivers led by Kelton Greene and Malik Waring. They added Kyle Belak, a transfer from Carolina Forest, who led the area in receiving yards last year with 1,067 and had 15 TD grabs.

330 pound Poppy Randall is the only rising senior on an offensive line that must replace three starters off last year's squad.

On defense, Marcus Chestnut will lead the linebacking corps. The defensive line is another strength, led by Shyquan McCray and Isiah Rumley.

Kicker and punter Sean Huggins returns after a spectacular season. He hit 7-of-11 field goals including a walk-off boot to beat Daniel 24-21 in the title game.

Myrtle Beach will begin their 2014 schedule at home with a game against West Brunswick (NC) in the Derrick Law Firm Carolinas Kickoff Clash on August 28.
