Lamar's Howard heading to US Junior Golf Championship

The Lamar Silver Foxes do not have a girls golf team, which is good news for Hartsville. Eden Howard plays for the Red Foxes and was a big reason that Hartsville won the Lower State championship last fall. Howard injured her wrist during the state finals as Hartsville finished in 6th place in Class 3A.

Howard shot a 71 at the Country Club of North Carolina in a sectional qualifier to earn a spot in the 156 player field at the US Junior Girls Championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Howard will play a pair of stroke play rounds on July 22nd and 23rd. From there, the top 64 scores will move to a match play format. The rising senior has given a verbal commitment to play for Kate Quinney and Coastal Carolina. She's currently ranked #35 in the latest South Carolina Junior Golf Association rankings despite playing a limited number of junior events in 2013.
