Lake City scores extra innings win in Mingo Bay Classic opener

Kashua Harvin's suicide squeeze in the 8th inning brought home Jordan Hanna to give Lake City an 8-7 win over Cazenovia, New York in the first day of the Mingo Bay Classic. The Panthers fell behind 5-0 in the first inning, but clawed back. JT Follin's 2 run double in the 5th got the Tigers within one run at 7-6. Lake City would tie the game in the top of the 6th as Larry Cooper scored on a wild pitch.

The Panthers were also sparked by two outstanding defensive plays. Cameron Griffith made a leaping grab at second base to end the 7th inning and force extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th, a throw to second base went into centerfield, but Jordan Hanna fired a perfect strike to get the runner at third.

The Mingo Bay Classic features 50 games a day with five games at ten different sites on the Grand Strand. Aynor, Conway, Carolina Forest, Georgetown, Loris, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Socastee, St. James and Waccamaw are all host sites. In addition, Lake City and East Clarendon are playing from the Pee Dee.
