Fri, 26 Jul 2013 22:41:52 GMT — Press Release from Kingstree football: Kingstree Senior High School head football coach Charlie Brown is pleased to announce Darius Dukes will sign a letter of intent to play football at Butte College in Oroville, California. Dukes signed his letter of intent before family and friends at the Williamsburg County Public Services Administration Building Thursday afternoon. The Butte Roadrunners are the 2012 Nor-Cal Conference Champions for the State Center Bowl Championship. The team is also ranked number one in Northern California. The college produced Superbowl MVP Champion Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. Dukes 6'2 played wide receiver for the Kingstree Jaguars during the 2012 regular season. He led the Jaguars in receptions, touchdowns and interceptions. He says he's a little nervous about making the move, but excited for the opportunity. "I feel great because not everyone can go to that college and play football. So, I just want to thank God and my parents for allowing me to go that far," said Dukes. Dukes is the first Kingstree Jaguars football player to sign a college scholarship based on his athletic abilities since 2006, according to Coach Brown. "I know he's gonna do well and I think he's gonna set the blueprint for a lot of kids here at Kingstree High School," said Brown. Dukes leaves next Thursday for California and is hoping to make his community proud.
