The North Carolina High School Football State Playoffs got underway one day late for two teams. It was worth the wait for Scotland County. The Scots defeated Harnett Central 55-13 in Laurinburg on Saturday night.
The contest was postponed until Saturday because of inclement weather in Laurinburg on Friday night. The Scots playoff win was their first in four years.
Scotland, the number one seed in Class 4A Mideast, got out to a big first half lead and never trailed with Tony McRae scoring on one touchdown run, and Isaiah Robinson returning a kickoff for another score. McRae finished the night with 11 carries for 120 yards and two TD's.
The Scots now have an 11-0 record. They advance to host Southeast Guilford (7-4) next Friday at 7:30 p.m. in round two of the playoffs.
