Hillcrest tops Carolina Forest for 4A softball title

HIllcrest scored three runs in the top of the first and Carolina Forest managed just two hits as the Rams beat the Panthers 6-0 to win the 4A state softbal title at Blythewood High School. Hillcrest jumped out in front with a Rachel Roberts RBI double and a Sarah Stewart 2 run homer in the first and Roberts stymied Panther hitters. Hillcrest added single runs in the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings as part of a ten hit attack.

Carolina Forest one game one at Hillcrest 1-0, but the Rams bounced back for a 7-1 win on the Grand Strand on Friday night setting up the Midlands showdown on Monday. Carolina Forest finishes the season with a 24-4 record. Coach Sarah Michew's squad reached the state championship for the first time in school history.
