Georgia Tech commit Jaylend Ratliffe leads Scotland County in spring practice

Jaylend Ratliffe won WPDE NewsChannel 15's North Carolina Football Player of the Year award.

The Scotland County Fighting Scots are finishing spring workouts this week with plenty of promise for the upcoming season this fall. WPDE NewsChannel 15's North Carolina Player of the Year, quarterback Jaylend Ratliffe, will return to lead this powerhouse team.

Ratliffe, who is a Georgia Tech commitment, has been 28-3 as a starter for the Fighting Scots.

The 6'2" 200 pound Ratliffe led Scotland County to a 15-1 record last season with their only loss in the North Carolina 4-A state championship game.

Ratliffe is a highly prized dual threat quarterback. During his junior season, he rushed for 2,053 yards and 36 touchdowns. He threw for 1,756 yards and 16 touchdowns with only two interceptions.

Other potential division one talent returning to Scotland County are safety Robert McKoy, and linebackers Brandon McMillan and Jonathan Smith.

Scotland County last won the North Carolina 4-A state title in 2011.
