Former WPDE Hoop Zoners back on the Grand Strand

The Swanny's Basketball Classic brought plenty of future division one and local talent to North Myrtle Beach on Saturday and Sunday. Nine D-1 signees along with six players from the Pee Dee and Grand Strand area competed in the 16 team showcase.

Bret Swanson brought his tournament to the beach and invited dozens of college scouts. Swanson runs a basketball recruiting service called Roundball Review. He's a hoops writer and operates a website called on the network which primarily covers junior college basketball nationwide.

Former WPDE All-Hoop Zone selections Shaquille Wells from Hemingway, Patrick Jenkins from Loris, Mikey Hall from St. James and Devin Bey from Kingstree competed in the Swanny Classic. In addition, Greg Wilson from North Myrtle Beach and Suntrell Flagler were also in this prep tournament. But the big star on Sunday was Hemingway's Suntrell Flagler who led Port City Prep out of North Charleston to a 103-96 victory over MACK Prep Elite out of North Carolina.
