Former WPDE All-Zoner becomes varsity football coach

WPDE's All-Zone alumni have done many things both on and off the field over the past 13 years. For the first time, a WPDE All-Zoner is a varsity football head coach. James Breland has been named head man at Creek Bridge High, a story first reported by Lou Bezjak at the Florence Morning News. Breland was on WPDE's first All-Zone team in 2000 as a linebacker out of Hemingway High. Breland went on to a four year college football career at Newberry. He's also the Warriors girls basketball coach.

Breland takes over for Mark McClain. The Warriors were 1-9 in 2012 scoring a week three win against Lincoln.
