Florence Christian wins SCISA State Championship

Florence Christian won the SCISA Class 2A State Championship on Saturday.

The Florence Christian Eagles beat Hilton Head Christian Academy 30-27 to win the SCISA Class 2A State Championship.

Gordon Washington led Florence Christian with 30 carries for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns. Washington finished the year with 2,542 yards rushing and 33 TD's.

Washington's final touchdown in the fourth quarter was the game-winning score for the Eagles. The Florence Christian victory ended Hilton Head Christian Academy's bid for a third straight state championship.

After opening the season with a 41-0 loss to Laurence Manning Academy, Florence Christian won 12 straight games to finish the season, and claim the first football state title in school history.
