The original plan was for Latta All-American offensive lineman Donell Stanley to make his announcement on national television at the Under Armour All-American game in January, but the choice could come much sooner than that. Stanley spent the weekend at Cherry Grove Beach following his final round of official visits prior to his senior season with the Vikings. He narrowed his list from six schools to four, dropping Ohio State and LSU from consideration and leaving Alabama, Clemson, North Carolina and South Carolina.Palmetto Sports reports that Stanley's top two are Alabama and South Carolina, but the offensive lineman told WPDE Sports that he's giving serious consideration to all four schools on his list. Stanley says he's enjoyed the recruiting process, but is leaning towards ending it sooner rather than later.
"I'm just thinking it's about time for me to make a decision," Stanley said. "I'm just looking more into all of the schools, just look more into what I want. So I just narrowed it down to those four schools and hopefully I can make my decision soon."
Stanley's uncle, Chris German, has been heavily involved in the recruiting process with his nephew. Earlier in the summer, the duo visited Clemson and North Carolina. In July, he was joined by teammates R.J. McClam and Tyrell Sabb on a visit to defending national champion Alabama and the Crimson Tide's brand new football facility. On Friday, Donell attended the Gamecocks "Black Magic" one day camp for top recruits. Stanley is a two time WPDE All-Zone selection in 2011 and 2012 and looks to lead Latta to its first winning season in thirteen years. The first day of high school football practice is this Friday and Latta's WPDE End Zone Preview will air on Thursday, August 15th at 11pm.
