Hags ThoughtsCarolina Forest will try to improve on last year's 7-4 record. The Panthers will not miss a beat following the graduation of Danny Daly. 6'4" sophomore quarterback Will Brunson had a passing league showing. Brunson has a bevy of talented receivers including Jamarr White and Kyle Belack. The Carolina Forest defense, led by top tackler Kyle Rice and sack leader Marvin Taylor will have to make big plays for the Panthers to return to the playoffs after a two year absence.
The Panthers main reason for missing the 4A playoffs was a weak out of conference schedule. That has been rectified thanks to matchups with Goose Creek and Fort Dorchester. Harold Atkinson is on my short list of about 8 names for the 2012 Zoneman. To get into my top 3, he's going to need big games against the best opponents. Can he get 100 yards on the ground against Myrtle Beach, Goose Creek or Conway? I've seen enough of Jamarr White in person to believe what Coach Hummel says about not being a big dropoff after the graduation of Holmes and Williams.
