Bulldogs top Chesterfield in Saturday night Bennettsville special

Sun, 19 Aug 2012 02:11:30 GMT — Xavier Adams threw two first half TD passes and Marlboro County raced out to a 23-0 halftime lead on the way to a 39-0 win over Chesterfield at McAlpine Stadium. Adams opened the scoring with a beautifully thrown ball in the corner of the end zone to Jamal Stanton. The 28 yard TD pass gave Marlboro County a 7-0 advantage. A safety on a bad punt snap gave the Bulldogs a 9-0 lead at the end of one quarter. Adams threw a perfect slant to Raheem Ward who caught it in stride and raced to the paint on a 46 yard scoring play to make it a 15-0 game. Following a blocked punt, Reginald Bright scored on the next play as he bulldozed into the zone from seven yards out to give Marlboro County a 23-0 halftime advantage. Bright had more than 100 yards rushing on the night with two touchdowns. He busted the game open in the second half on a 65 yard TD run. The Bulldogs are 1-0 and travel to Cheraw this Friday night.
