Three Marlboro County athletes signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday afternoon in Bennettsville.
Outside Linebacker Antwan Spears signed to play at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Spears made 72 tackles, including 26 first hits, caused one fumble, recovered one fumble, and blocked a kick during his senior season at Marlboro County.
Baseball star Dylan Ellis signed with Florence-Darlington Technical College. Ellis earned all-region honors as a pitcher his senior season with the black and gold. Ellis had an impressive outing in the post season. He tossed six shutout innings in a 2-0 win against Airport in the Class AAA state playoffs. Ellis picked up two playoff wins and helped the Bulldogs make it all the way to the District II Finals.
Linebacker Malik Miles signed a football letter to play at Greensboro College in North Carolina. Miles led Marlboro County with 190 tackles his senior season, and finished second in the area in that department. Miles was a two-time all-region selection. He scored two touchdowns, caused two fumbles, recovered four fumbles, had two interceptions, blocked one kick, had 15 tackles for loss, and made 73 first hits during an impressive senior season for head coach Dean Boyd's Bulldogs.
