      Rich's Take

Chad Eaddy played at Wilson High and knows what the Tigers faithful expects. Kudos to coach for falling on the sword and taking some of the blame for last year's 3-7 campaign. Recognizing the fact that he learned some things as a first year varsity coach is only going to make him a better coach in the coming years. Wilson has to restore its Dark Side defense - it's the key to a successful season. Talent is not the issue, especially on the offensive side of the ball. I can't tell you how many opposing coaches talked about the raw talent of QB TJ Frederick. I'm really hoping to see Gaquan Maize put it all together and have an All-Zone invite on his resume alongside his state championships in track. The other guy who is flat out exciting is Raekwon McCall - I'm looking for an All-Zone year out of him.

      Alumni Update

On the day Justin Durant signed a free agent contract to play linebacker with the Dallas Cowboys, I sent him congratulations over Twitter with a small gift. I dug deep into the archives and made his day by showing some old school Durant from his playing days at Wilson High. Click HERE to see Justin Durant's 2002 WPDE Zoneman Finalist Feature. I can't tell you how much fun it is to look back at the guys who play on Sunday's and their roots and I'm most grateful that the coaches in our area are pretty darn good at getting the right guys on the podium. While we're talking Wilson alums, we can't forget about Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons. Click HERE to see Timmons from his 2003 WPDE Zoneman Days at Wilson. This should be required viewing to all Wilson football players of the legacy created and what hard work and handling yourself the right way both on and off the field can result in great success.
