Rich's Take on the Knights
Did we give enough credit to West Florence for winning back to back regoin titles? That's a big deal. It's a tall order for a team that lost 16 starters to make a three-peat happen, but Marquane Goodman is the key piece that's back. He's mature for his age and I hope he has a big year so he can pick up some more offers. Right now, Appalachian State is the only offer, but that will certainly change if he can continue to develop. Losing the Bostick's, Cam and Akeem, is a big loss along with a pair of WPDE All-Zone offensive linemen. I have a feeling that Akeem will be the second WPDE All-Zone football selection to make it to the big leagues, following in the footsteps of current Houston Astros pitcher Jordan Lyles who was a Zoneman Finalist back in the day. Alex Spence, the Clemson commitment is a huge weapon. Forget about the field goals and near automatic extra points - Spence will boot nearly every ball out of the end zone taking away the big return possibility. Woodberry has certainly changed the culture at West Florence and fans should be patient as the team will be challenged to reach the lofty heights of 2012.
Worth Another Watch
Click HERE to watch West Florence's 42-14 playoff win over Wade Hampton. It gave the Knights a first round win in the 4A playoffs and it got them to the ten win mark. Hags did a story on Brandon Bostick coming home to watch his brother and cousin play in that game. Brandon's got a real shot of sticking on the Green Bay Packers roster at tight end.Click HERE to watch the Brandon Bostick feature.
