The Marlboro County Bulldogs football team picked up a key transfer just before the start of their season. WPDE All-Zone wide receiver Tabari Hines left South Florence High to join the Bulldogs.

Hines caught 60 passes last season for 915 yards and led the area with 17 TD grabs.

All-Zone quarterback London Johson returns to lead a Bulldogs offense that averaged more than 31 points a game last season. But only four starters return on that side of the ball.

Johnson threw for 2,760 yards last year with 30 TD passes last season. He also led the team with 978 rushing yards and 11 TD runs.

Junior running back Demetrius Knox is expected to get plenty of touches this season.

On defense, the Bulldogs were hit hard by graduation. Only one starter returns. Trey Woods will lead the secondary. He had three picks and made 93 tackles last season. Outside linebacker Alijauon McClean returns for his senior season to lead a young but aggressive defense.

Marlboro County will open the season in Myrtle Beach at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium on Friday, August 29 against the Richmond Raiders out of Rockingham, North Carolina.
