      Rich's Take

There's something special about Lamar. How can such a small town crank out so many outstanding football players? From Levon Kirkland to John Abraham to Michael Hamlin and now Marshall McFadden is poised to be a part of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense. Coach JR Boyd went into the Hall of Fame and deservedly so. It's going to be awfully hard to imagine a Lamar game without him roaming the sidelines so I hope that he savors every moment in his final season and the community thanks him for everything he's done for Lamar football. Quan Brown is fantastic and will be the catalyst to the Lamar offense. I am anxious to see how Brown, LaBradford Abson and the other skill players develop into their third year of varsity action. Lamar will miss the Peoples (Akeem and Demetrius), but they always seem to find playmakers year in and year out.

      Worth Another Watch

The Timmonsville/Lamar rivalry speaks for itself. I wish the Silver Foxes were back in Lower State and in the same region as their archrival. Some may question playing a team twice, but it worked when Timmonsville and Lamar got together. We'll have to settle for one early non-region game a year. Last year's shootout was one of the best regular season games in the Zone Nation during the 2012 campaign. LaBradford Abson's TD run was one of the best plays of the year.
