Hunter Renfrow wins 2012 Zoneman

Socastee junior quarterback Hunter Renfrow was named the 13th WPDE Zoneman Winner. The Braves dangerous option signal caller captured 17 first place votes and was on 28 of 40 ballots from area coaches and media. Conway's Mykal Moody was the runner-up for a second straight year. He had 43 points in 2011 - the South Carolina Mister Football Finalist had 42 points in 2012. Hartsville running back Trey Samuel, who rushed for over 2000 yards and had 274 yards and 2 TD's in the 3A state championship game finished in 3rd

Two Division I commitments shared North Carolina player of the year. Richmond Senior's Devontae Covington (University of South Carolina) and Scotland County's Artemis Robinson (NC State) were honored as well as Arbor One SCISA Player of the Year Chantwan Damon of Trinity-Byrnes. 60 players were honored at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center. The WPDE All-Zone team has produced 13 NFL players and over 200 players have gone on to play some form of college football.
