The Hannah-Pamplico High football program is under new management for the third time in as many seasons. Al Calcutt is the Raiders new field boss.
Calcutt has an abundance of experience coaching area football teams. He's been a head coach at Georgetown High, Creek Bridge High. Most recently, Calcutt was the Carvers Bay Athletic Director and a football assistant under head coach Nate Thompson. He's also coached at Marion, South Florence and Williston-Elko.
Calcutt takes over a Hannah-Pamplico team that finished 0-10 last season.
The Raiders have five starters returning on offense, including senior quarterback Jerried Self, who will try to improve an offense that scored only 7.7 points a game last season. Top receiver Jordan Jenkins, senior center Blayne Hayes, and sophomore running back Jakar Beach are expected to be key players for the Raiders.
Another major task for Coach Calcutt will be to rebuild a defense that gave up more than 40 points a game last year.
Hannah-Pamplico will open the 2014 campaign on August 22nd at Green Sea-Floyds.
