After winning four of its first six games, East Clarendon finished the 2013 football season with a 4-6 record and missed the playoffs.
This year, the Wolverines have 13 starters returning.
Seven starters are back on offense, including quarterback Jared Hair, and top rusher Adam Lowder, who ran for 949 yards and 13 TD's last season.
Top receiver Marquice Elmore enters his senior season after making 40 grabs for 493 yards and six scores. Savontai Hall is another game-breaker at running back. He averaged 7.18 yards a carry last year with six trips to the end zone.
The emphasis will be on defense. East Clarendon gave up 29.6 points a game. But six starters are back, including leading tackler Sulli Lee, who made 127 stops last season, including five sacks. Sophomore linebacker Dawuan Butler led the Wolverines with seven sacks as a freshman. Elmore will pull double-duty in the secondary. Junior lineman Devonte Cooper will provide muscle up front on both sides of the ball.
East Clarendon will open the 2014 season at home on August 29th against Green Sea-Floyds.
