Myrtle Beach, SC ?? The Myrtle Beach Seahawks completed the 2013 season with their seventh state championship, which was the second under head coach Mickey Wilson. This season, Myrtle Beach has plenty of talent to repeat.
Lead by quarterback Drayton Arnold, who finished last season with 30 touchdown passes, the Seahawks have more firepower than most. Talented tailback Brandon Sinclair returns. The senior carried the rock for 356 times for nearly 2,000 yards.
Arnold will have one of the most talented receiving corps in the area. CJ Finkley, Malik Waring, Kelton Greene and former Carolina Forest standout Kyle Belack will give this team more options than most. Add in Jake Deskins at tight end, and the Hawks are a dangerous unit for any team they face.
Defensively, Marcus Chestnut will give Myrtle Beach a solid foundation. They return All-State kicker Sean Huggins, who kicked the game winning field goal as time expired in last year's title contest.
Mickey Wilson has won at least ten games each season during his stint on Grissom Parkway. Another ten-win season will put the Seahawks in position to win another title. They kickoff the season Thursday, August 28, against West Brunswick as part of the Carolinas Kickoff Clash.
