Ramon Sessions has had a lot of accolades including two WPDE Mister Hoop Zone Trophies and the fortunes of seven years in NBA. Tuesday night's ceremony at Myrtle Beach High ranks near the top for the former Seahawk and current Charlotte Bobcats point guard. He was given a key to the city for his numerous contributions to the Grand Strand and a picture hung in the rafters alongside one of his greatest influences, former Seahawks basketball coach Buddy Rogers.
Sessions grabbed national headlines when he dunked over Miami Heat superstar Lebron James in an overtime loss last week.
"It was one of those things where I think I caught him off guard," Sessions said about his now infamous dunk. "It was just a regular two points but it was against one of the greatest players to ever play the game."
Ramon scored 23 points in Monday's Bobcats win over Toronto and will be seeing more playing time with an injury to Kemba Walker. He used his connections with Reebok to outfit the entire Myrtle Beach boys and girls basketball teams. He presented autographed basketballs to the players of the week during his ceremony. He continues to host an annual summer camp at Myrtle Beach High and comes to Racepath every Thanksgiving week to hand out turkeys to his old neighborhood.
