Phil Pfeiffer has won another Mayors Cup golf tournament. The 40-year old Pfeiffer shot a final round 78 at Whispering Pines to finish one shot ahead of Wilmington's Jonathan Miles in the Open Division in the amateur event.
Pfeiffer, who works for a software company in Myrtle Beach, shot rounds of 73 and 77 on the first day of the tournament. Miles, who won the tournament last year, missed a long birdie putt on the final hole that would have sent him to a playoff with Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer won the Mayors Cup in 2009, 2010, and now in 2013. He is the first three-time winner of the eight year old tournament, named after Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes.
Walt Wysk from Myrtle Beach won the Senior Division by three strokes over Don Sheads of Murrells Inlet. Wysk carded a final round of 79 to win his division for a second straight year, with a total score of 232 in the 54-hole tournament.
