NFL locals deliver in Friday NFL preseason

Former Coastal Carolina All-American defensive back Josh Norman had two interceptions, including a 55 yard touchdown, in the Carolina Panthers 24-17 win over the Chicago Bears on Friday night at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Norman picked off Jay Cutler in the first quarter to set up the Panthers first TD, then followed it with a pick in the third quarter Matt Blanchard that he took 55 yards for a score. Norman is beginning his second season with Carolina. He had one interception in his rookie season, which came in Chicago against Cutler and the Bears.

At Lambeau Field, former WPDE All-Zoner Jaron Brown of Cheraw had 5 catches for 46 yards and a TD in the Arizona Cardinals 17-0 win over the Green Bay Packers. Brown, the former Clemson wideout, caught a one yard TD pass in the corner of the end zone from Drew Stanton to give the Cardinals a 14-0 lead. Lamar's John Abraham had a sack in his Cardinals debut. Arizona is Abraham's third NFL stop after beginning his career with the New York Jets and moving on to a long stint with the Atlanta Falcons.

North Myrtle Beach's Ryan Quigley made his debut with the New York Jets. Quigley, the three time WPDE All-Zoner who was a four year starter at Boston College, had three punts in the New York Jets 26-17 loss to the Detroit Lions. Quigley, who is competing with Ryan Malone for the starting punting duties, averaged 47.3 yards per punt. His final punt was 51 yards.
