The Myrtle Beach Pelicans suffered its second straight loss in the 10th inning on Thursday night. The Salem Red Sox beat the Birds 4-3 in 10 frames to win the best of three playoff series two games to none. The Pelicans raced out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning on an error, sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Odubel Herrera. Salem answered back with three runs in the top of the 5th inning, highlighted by a Henry Ramos two run single off the first baseman's glove.
The Pelicans loaded the bases in the 9th inning, but Matt Price ended the threat with a strikeout. The Red Sox won it on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Chris Grayson. The Pelicans, Class A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, finish the year with a 77-64 record overall.
