The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Conway High right-handed pitcher Grant Holmes with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the First Year Player MLB Draft.
After his selection, Holmes said, "Im very honored to be a Dodger and I'm ready to pitch."
Holmes must now make a big decision. He has already signed to play college baseball with the Florida Gators. He may elect to put college on hold and turn pro.
Some MLB scouts rate his curveball as the best of any high school pitcher in this year's draft. Holmes' fastball has also hit 100 miles an hour on the radar gun.
The Houston Astros selected California high school pitcher Brady Aiken with the number one overall pick in the MLB draft. Aiken is a hard throwing left-hander out of San Diego's Cathedral Catholic High.
