College Baseball Super Regional Surprise

College of Charleston is only the fourth No. 4 regional seed to reach the super regionals since 1999.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The College of Charleston is one of 16 teams heading to super regionals in the NCAA baseball tournament after surprising opening-weekend victories.

The College of Charleston Cougars became the fourth No. 4 regional seed to reach super regionals since the tournament went to its current format in 1999.

The College of Charleston will begin their best-of-three Super Regional series with Texas Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas.

Gunnar Heidt, a senior infielder, leads College of Charleston with a .335 batting average this season. Heidt is a graduate of St. James High in Murrells Inlet.
