Freshman midfielder Sergio Camargo tallied two goals to pace Coastal Carolina to a 3-1 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Tuesday night in Conway. The Gamecocks took a 1-0 lead on a lon goal by Ive Burnett, but the tide turned in the 13th minute when Ricky Garbanzo was fouled hard in the penalty box. Braden Troyer was given a red card and South Carolina played the final 87 minutes with ten players. Pedro Ribeiro scored on the penalty kick to tie the game at one.
Camargo tallied the game winner with just under two minutes to go in the first half following his own shot after the initial shot by Kevin LaBras from 18 yards away. Camargo scored in the 81st minute off a feed from Agust Arnarson. Coastal Carolina is now 2-2 on the season. The Chanticleers opened the season with a win at #17 Wake Forest and lost games to #4 North Carolina and #15 Charlotte before scoring the win over the Gamecocks.
Coastal's men's soccer program has reached the NCAA Tournament in the last three years, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2012.
