Four players who have played for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans have been selected to play in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game on July 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis.
11-game winner Adam Wainwright of the St. Louis Cardinals, who pitched in Myrtle Beach in 2002, leads the Majors with a 1.89 ERA is on the National League All-Star team.
Three Atlanta Braves who were former Pelicans were selected to the NL All-Stars. First Baseman Freddie Freeman who played in Myrtle Beach in 2009, and pitchers Julio Teheran (2010), and Craig Kimbrel (2008-09).
Freeman is hitting .294 with 13 homers and 47 RBI.
Teheran has an 8-5 record with a 2.29 ERA.
Kimbrel is tied for the Major League lead with 27 saves.
