Shatia Cole spent four years as a Myrtle Beach Lady Seahawk and now she's a Lady Seahawk again - this time at UNC-Wilimington. Cole tells WPDE Sports that she will transfer from Coastal Carolina to UNC-Wilimington. Per NCAA transfer rules, she will sit out this upcoming season and have two years of eligibility remaining.
Cole was the Lady Chanticleers second leading scorer in 2012-13 averaging 9.6 points per game. After playing two seasons under Alan LeForce, she was granted her release by new head coach Jaida Williams last week. UNC-Wilmington was 5-26 in the Colonial Athletic Association last year. Shatia was a two time WPDE All-Hoop Zone selection in 2010 and 2011 and helped Myrtle Beach High win back to back state championships in her high school career.
