Coastal Carolina used a 45-26 rebounding advantage to set the tone on Senior Night in a 73-54 win over Winthrop on Wednesday at the HTC Center. The senior backcourt of Anthony Raffa and Kierre Greenwood played their final regular season home game in Conway and combined for 34 points. Raffa had 18 points and 6 rebounds with Greenwood chipping in 16 points and 5 assists.
Sophomore Warren Gillis added 16 points and 10 rebounds as Coastal improved to 14-13, 9-6 in Big South play. The Chants opened the game on a 9-0 run and pounded the offensive glass in the first half to pace a 41-24 halftime advantage. CCU's other seniors, guard Charles Ashford and Bisi Addey both got in the scorebook with 2 points each. Ashford made a pair of free throws, while Addey scored the final two points of the game on a lay in.
The Chanticleers close out the regular season at Charleston Southern on Saturday at 4:30 pm. CCU will not get one of the four first round byes, meaning that the Chanticleers will open the Big South Tournament on Tuesday night at 8pm at the HTC Center.
