The Florida Gators scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to beat the South Carolina Gamecocks 14-5 in Gainesville, Florida. Conway High product Colby Holmes made the start. He lasted just 1.2 innings, and gave up four runs, two of them earned. Holmes did not figure in the decision. The Gators swept the three game series. South Carolina's overall record is now 27-10, 8-7 in the SEC.
The Clemson Tigers beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 1-0 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. Daniel Gossett tossed six shutout innings to improve his pitching record to 6-2. Tyler Krieger drove in the only run of the contest for the Tigers, who improve to an overall record of 24-11, 10-6 in the ACC. The Tigers have won eight straight games.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers beat the Winthrop Eagles 13-2 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. CCU pounded out a season-high 18 hits on the way to their eighth straight win. CCU's overall record is 23-12, 9-2 in the Big South Conference.
