Former Clemson all-american Lucas Glover is tied for the lead at the halfway mark of the 2011 British Open. The 31-year old Glover out of Greenville, South Carolina shot an even par 70 second round. He's at 4-under par along with Darren Clarke atop the leaderboard at Royal St. George's in Sandwich, England.
Another Clemson grad, Kyle Stanley, stands at even par through 36 holes after shooting 2-over par 72 in round two. Stanley is tied for 19th. Still another Clemson product, Jonathan Byrd, finished 9-over par for the two days and missed the cut.
Ex-Coastal Carolina star Dustin Johnson carded a solid round of 2-under par 68. The Myrtle Beach area resident moved up 29 spots on the leaderboard. He is 2-under for the event and tied for seventh. Johnson had three birdies and a bogey on the front nine. He parred every hole on the back nine to put him just two strokes behind the leaders heading to the weekend. Strong winds and rain are expected to blow in off the English Channel this weekend.
