Ole Miss nips Coastal Carolina in final minute

Marshall Henderson hit 4-of-8 from 3-point range to lead Ole Miss past Coastal on Saturday.

The Mississippi Rebels (2-0) hung on to beat Coastal Carolina 72-70, behind 19 points from Marshall Henderson.

Coastal led 30-27 at the half, but could never pull away. The Chanticleers outrebounded Ole Miss 48-41. But CCU was ice cold from 3-point range, hitting only five of 27 tries from beyond the arc.

Josh Cameron and Warren Gillis led the Chants with 16 points apiece. Former Mullins High star Eric Smith was held to only five points.

With 4:03 left in the game, Henderson buried a 3-pointer to give Ole Miss a five point lead.

Coastal pulled within three points of the lead in the final minute. Cameron had a potential 3-pointer in the closing seconds that was just off the mark.

CCU head coach Cliff Ellis said, "We outrebounded Ole Miss, we had less turnovers than Ole Miss, but the ball wouldn't go in the hole."

Coastal Carolina (1-2) will play the Golden Gophers at Minnesota on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
