NFL Week 9: Grand Strand & Pee Dee player performances

Eight players with ties to the Pee Dee and Grand Strand made an impact on week 9 of the NFL.

A pair of former Coastal Carolina stars helped the Carolina Panthers beat the Washington Redskins 21-13. Josh Norman had nine tackles and two pass break-ups for the Panthers. Mike Tolbert had three carries for four yards, and one reception for seven yards.

2003 WPDE Zoneman winner Lawrence Timmons out of Wilson High in Florence, made three tackles, including a sack for the Pittsburgh Steelers, in a 24-20 win over the New York Giants.

Former Wilson High Tigers standout Justin Durant made seven tackles to lead the Detroit Lions defense in a 31-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Robert Ayers out of Marlboro County High made one tackle for the Denver Broncos in a 31-23 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Bengals defensive end Robert Geathers, Jr. from Carvers Bay High made three tackles.

Ex-Coastal Carolina star Jerome Simpson had one catch for 14 yards for the Minnesota Vikings in a 30-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

John Abraham out of Lamar High made two tackles for the Atlanta Falcons in a 19-13 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
